Nancy Pelosi Injured and Hospitalized During Luxembourg Visit
Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized following an injury sustained during an official trip to Luxembourg. The 84-year-old Pelosi was traveling with a congressional delegation at the time of the incident. Her office announced on Friday that Pelosi was hospitalized for evaluation.
According to her spokesperson Ian Krager, Pelosi is receiving excellent care from health professionals and, although she is saddened by the inability to participate in the planned activities of the congressional delegation (CODEL), she is actively continuing with her duties. The nature of Pelosi's injury has not been disclosed, and no further details regarding the incident were immediately available.
The bipartisan delegation, which includes Pelosi, was in Europe to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, a significant World War II conflict between German and Allied forces. U.S. lawmakers were scheduled to participate in memorial events with veterans, active-duty military personnel, and various officials from governments and militaries, as well as foreign dignitaries on Friday and Saturday.
In her statement, Pelosi expressed gratitude for the contributions of the people of Luxembourg and Bastogne to World War II and the subsequent peace in Europe. She noted her honor in being part of a delegation that includes family members, such as her uncle Johnny, who served in the war and have personal connections to it. Pelosi's office conveyed that she looks forward to returning to the U.S. soon.
