Russia's Druzhba Pipeline Oil Supply Halted as of Yesterday
According to sources close to the matter, oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline, which connects Russia's oil fields to European refineries, have been halted since December 19. The Druzhba pipeline also transports transit oil volumes from Kazakhstan to Germany and supplies oil to Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Currently, the oil supply through the Druzhba pipeline is approximately 300,000 barrels per day (bpd). These supplies are a vital raw material source for MOL's refineries in Hungary and Slovakia. Transneft, the operator of the Druzhba oil pipeline, has not yet responded to requests for comments. The Druzhba pipeline is one of the largest pipelines in the world, with a capacity of 2 million barrels per day. However, since the European Union's decision to stop purchasing Russian oil in 2022, the amount of oil flowing through Druzhba has significantly decreased.
