US Set to Ban Drone Imports from China
U.S. lawmakers view the dominance of Chinese drones in the U.S. market not only as a spying threat but also as a commercial threat that makes it nearly impossible for American manufacturers to compete. These lawmakers have targeted these drones. A defense bill approved by Congress on December 18 includes a provision that would halt the sale of new drones by two Chinese companies in the U.S. if a review determines they pose an "unacceptable risk" to American national security. Congress has banned federal agencies from acquiring Chinese drones, with some exceptions, while several states have restricted publicly funded programs from using or procuring Chinese drones.
